The 6 Meter Backbone Initiative
TTN is building a statewide 6-meter FM repeater backbone across Tennessee and into north Mississippi.
6 meters is the magic band — wide enough for statewide links, underutilized enough to coordinate cleanly, and propagation characteristics that favor the terrain of East Tennessee.
Why 6 Meters
- Uncrowded — far less interference than 2m/70cm repeater bands
- Excellent terrain penetration for ridge-to-ridge links
- SERA coordination available statewide
- 50MHz allows higher ERP on modest tower heights
